Bet Tzedek Pro Bono Cases in Partnership with Safe Place for Youth

Deprived of a place to call home, troubled youths or youths exiting the foster care are forced to live on the street and fend for themselves. Homeless youth often receive minor citations on the streets, including demerits for sleeping outside, blocking sidewalks, and loitering. Without the ability to go to court or pay for the fines, these individuals often bench warrants for their arrest. Bet Tzedek has established a partnership with Safe Place for Youth’s Legal Clinic to tackle this issue. Through Bet Tzedek, our attorneys work pro bono to clear tickets or warrants belonging to the homeless youth. With every successful case, homeless youth are able to access resources or pursue paths that were previously unattainable due to their circumstances. Without said warrants or citations, these individuals may freely seek protection from law enforcement, further their education, or find employment without having to worry about any repercussions.
